All-Star Voting: No Statistics EditionMonday, June 27, 2005Before I begin this, I have had a reader request Mark Prior's calf size. If anyone knows how big Prior's calves are, could you shoot me an email (byron@thecubdom.com)? With only three days left before all-star voting is closed, I decided to wrap up my all-star voting series with a non-stats edition. I didn't look at any stats before voting, I just picked my favorite players, or guys who I know are having outstanding years. As a result, I chose not to vote for a few positions.
You too can vote for the All-Star starting lineups. I just ask that you keep my man D-Lee in mind. It appears that I have a weakness for speedy guys on the Marlins. I guess that 2003 NLCS has scarred me for life. Chicago Cubs Media Guide Trivia Nugget of the Day: Posted by Byron at June 27, 2005 5:00 PM

Any reason for the abstentions? Teixiera, Ramirez, Ortiz?

Castillo over Kent??? Even Marcus Giles has better numbers than Castillo and he was hurt for a while.
Pierre and Burnitz, are you kidding me? There's atleast 10 guys that are having much better years than these two. Start with Abreu, Carlos Lee, Andruw Jones, Floyd, Bay, Luis Gonzalez, Edmonds, etc. Heck, Brady Clark's having a much better year than Pierre.
Not to be a jerk, but this is why some people hate that fans pick the All Star reps.

Bones,
The whole point of this post was to not vote on statistics or how good of a season a guy was having. It was for me to pick my favorite players, or the guys I wanted to see play in the all-star game. I've posted four other posts on ballots that were cast with an eye towards statistics. This was the 'No Statistics Edition.'

Now that the game means something in October, the players should choose the starting lineups and the fans the bench. John Kruk Baseball Tonight mentioned this and I think he makes sense. This is much more than an exhibition game.
